Michael Jordan trading card sells for $2.9 million :: WRALSportsFan.com
Another Michael Jordan trading card has broken a record.
A signed one-of-one 2003-04 Upper Deck Jordan card sold Saturday for $2,928,000, according to Goldin Auctions.
The figure sets a record for any Jordan trading card.
Goldin’s website shows nine bids were submitted on Saturday for the Upper Deck card.
The winning bid of $2.4 million was placed at 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Goldin’s 22% buyer premium bumped the final total to $2.9 million.
There were 38 total bids made on the card. A buyer has not been publicly revealed.
Professional Sports Authenticators [PSA] graded the card a 10, which is the highest grade a card can receive.
PSA’s website states, “A PSA 10 card is a virtually perfect card.”
The Jordan card features the NBA logo man patch from one of his jerseys, although it does not specify which one.
Goldin said it is Jordan’s first signed logo man patch card in a Bulls uniform.
Although it is a record for a Jordan card, it not the all-time record for a traidng card. That belongs to New York Yankees legend Mickey Mantle, whose 1952 Topps card was sold for $12.6 million in August 2022. That card surpassed the previous record of $7.25 million set earlier that month by a T206 Honus Wagner card.
Saturday’s sale comes after last month’s sale of the highest-selling Jordan rookie card at $925,000
