MAYODAN, N.C. — It was a conference tournament championship match, but in at least one respect it felt like so many other McMichael volleyball wins. Smooth. Efficient. Powerful. Quick.

The host Phoenix dispatched West Stokes 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-8) on Wednesday to back up its regular season Mid-State 2A Conference title with the tournament crown as well.

West Stokes (19-5) had taken a set from McMichael (24-2) in the previous two meetings this year, but things were different this time around as senior hitter Jenna Rosenbaum (averaging 4.3 kills per set this season) got hot and setter Zoey Bradford (7.8 assists per set) ran an offense that couldn’t be slowed down.

Up next for both teams will be the state playoffs, where McMichael figures to be one of the top three seeds in the 2A West.
