Mallard Creek takes No. 1 in final boys indoor track & field rankings for 2024-25

Mallard Creek ends the year as No. 1 team in HighSchoolOT’s statewide high school boys indoor track & field statewide rankings for the 2024-25 season.

The Mavericks won the N.C. High School Athletic Association championship in 4A. This is the first year that the Mavericks have finished No. 1 in the HighSchoolOT boys indoor rankings.

Mallard Creek is followed by 3A champ Dudley, Cuthbertson, unofficial NCISAA D1 champ Charlotte Christian, and Marvin Ridge. Seaforth, the 1A/2A champ, is 15th.

Scores are calculated as if there was one big state meet featuring every in-state school’s times from their respective state championships.

New this year is the way in which scores are calculated (the top 20 spots are scored instead of top 10, with top-10 placers getting one bonus point and 1st place getting an additional bonus point — 22, 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1) and a new rule that the No. 1 spot must go to a team state champion.

For schools in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association, they were scored based on their end-of-year invitational that works as a de facto state title.

Previous No. 1 teams are Mount Tabor in 2024, Western Guilford in 2023, and Porter Ridge in 2022.
