The Western Carolina University Catamounts’ football program landed a nice commitment from Charlotte.

Mallard Creek High School cornerback Nassor Ashenafi announced his pledge to the Catamounts on Monday. He shared it on his X account.

He is listed at 5-foot-9 and 157 pounds.

Previously, Ashenafi also reported an offer from Lenoir-Rhyne.

The defensive back arrived at Mallard Creek ahead of the 2023 season after moving from Washington, DC. He instantly became an impact player for the Mavericks, registering multiple interceptions as a junior.

Ashensafi was credited with six total tackles and two pass breakups in Mallard Creek’s 2024 season-opening win over Prince Avenue. The Mavericks have not released stats for Ashenafi since them.

Mallard Creek is off to a 3-1 overall start this season and got a big win over West Charlotte to kick off Queen City Conference play last week.
