Labor Day weekend begins with NC State-ECU, ends with Belichick’s UNC debut :: WRALSportsFan.com

Bill Belichick’s first game at North Carolina will be a spotlight game on Labor Day. NC State, too, starts its season in primetime.

The Tar Heels’ opener against the Big 12’s TCU will be played Monday, Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN, the ACC announced Thursday. Belichick, who won six Super Bowls as head coach of the New England Pariots, will be making his college coaching debut — and is sure to be a central storyline.

NC State’s home game against rival ECU will be Thursday, Aug. 28. It marks the second straight game between the in-state foes. The Pirates defeated the Wolfpack 26-21 in the Military Bowl in December, a game marred by a fight in the final seconds.

The league announced its games for Week 0 and Week 1 of the 2025 season, a lineup that spans five days and includes some big matchups for the ACC: Syracuse vs. Tennessee in Atlanta, Clemson vs. LSU, Florida State vs. Alabama, Georgia Tech vs. Colorado, Virginia Tech vs. South Carolina and Notre Dame at Miami.

Duke, coming off a nine-win season under first-year coach Manny Diaz, opens its season on Saturday, Aug. 30 at home against Elon.

The league announced conference openers for all teams Friday afternoon.

The full league schedule will be released Monday.
