Kendre Harrison, highly recruited football & basketball player, transfers from Reidsville to Providence Day
After winning state championships in basketball and football last school year, rising junior Kendre Harrison has transferred from Reidsville High School to Providence Day School in Charlotte.
Harrison, a five-star tight end in football and a four-star power forward in basketball, made the announcement on social media on Thursday.
Standing at 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds, Harrison was named the N.C. High School Athletic Association Male Athlete of the Year and the MaxPreps Male National Athlete of the Year as a junior.
In football, Harrison caught 62 passes for 940 yards and 16 touchdowns. On defense, he posted 76 tackles, including 17 tackles for loss and nine sacks. He also had eight pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.
The Rams finished the 2023 football season with a 15-1 overall record, winning the NCHSAA 2A state championship and the Mid-State 2A Conference title.
According to On3.com composite rankings, Harrison is the No. 1 player in the state, the No. 1 tight end in the country, and the No. 9 overall player in the country from the Class of 2026.
Harrison has football offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado, East Carolina, Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, NC State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Old Dominion, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCF, USC, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and West Virginia.
In basketball, Harrison averaged 19.4 points, 15.1 rebounds, 3.7 blocks, and 1.5 assists per game. He helped Reidsville to a 29-0 record, a Mid-State 2A Conference title, and the NCHSAA 2A state championship.
ESPN says Harrison is the the No. 2 overall player in the state in boys basketball and the No. 8 power forward nationally.
The football and basketball state championships at Reidsville during the 2023-2024 school year came after the Rams lost in both state championship games during Harrison’s freshman year.
Providence Day is a member of the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association. The Chargers have won three straight Division I football state championships and was the state runner-up in boys basketball last season.
