Josh Brooks has returned as the head coach for Franklin’s football team.
The Macon County Board of Education declared that Josh Brooks will resume his position as the head coach of the football team at Franklin High School.
After serving as the program’s leader for 18 seasons, Brooks stepped down from his position in November. He has been coaching at Franklin for the past 23 seasons and has now returned to the school as the head coach.
During his 18-year tenure as Franklin’s head coach, Brooks has achieved a cumulative record of 141-78. Under his leadership, Franklin has qualified for the N.C. High School Athletic Association state playoffs 15 times. In 2014, Brooks guided Franklin to the regional final in the 2AA West division.
Last autumn, Franklin had a final record of 2 wins and 8 losses, resulting in them missing the playoffs.
The school district was recently awarded a $62 million grant to build a new Franklin High School. The board is optimistic that having Brooks involved will facilitate a smoother transition. Brooks’ wife, Bekah, is the head coach for the school’s volleyball team.
On Tuesday, Macon County Schools released the following statement:
