Jordon Hudson posts screenshot of Bill Belichick email about book promotion focus

North Carolina football head coach Bill Belichick’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, on Tuesday posted a screenshot to Instagram of an email that appears to be sent by the longtime coach.

Hudson’s post comes after the 24-year-old shut down a question during Belichick’s “CBS News Sunday Morning” interview about how she and the 73-year-old North Carolina coach met.

“Full statement to be released later today,” Hudson wrote in the post, which is accompanied by Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do.”

The email Hudson posted is written by Belichick to what appears to be his book publishers. The email expresses concerns over the promotion for Belichick’s new memoir, “The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Football.”

“This is about what I expected from the media,” Belichick wrote. “We went through how important it was for me to put ‘I f***** up’ in the book, and of course, that is the feature of this article — which is mostly about admitting mistakes and talking about a Super Bowl mistake.

“I am fine with putting mistakes in the book, but I am certainly not surprised that of 260+ pages, that is what they would highlight.”

The email is dated April 10. It is unclear what prompted Belichick’s email. The Boston Globe published a book review on April 9. It is titled “Bill Belichick’s book ‘The Art of Winning’ may not deliver the goods, but it is an enjoyable read.” The article does highlight some of the mistakes that Belichick said he made while leading the Patriots, but it does not focus on that part of the book.

The “CBS News Sunday Morning” interview aired on Sunday, April 27.

Belichick also wrote that he had “reluctantly gone along with the title, cover and language in the book.”

“I am not going to be the conductor of a hype train in the book promotion — we have enough hype to work with,” Belichick wrote.

North Carolina hired Belichick, who won a record six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, in December. Belichick had no previous college coaching experience, but the school hoped his hiring would spark interest and better results in the program. The football program has sold out of its season-ticket allotment for the 2025 season, athletics director Bubba Cunningham said.

Hudson has a significant social media presence and has posted photos with Belichick, who asked that she be copied on emails sent to him by UNC personnel. Her relationship with Belichick has attracted attention from far beyond the typical college football media. She was on the sidelines during the Tar Heels’ final spring practice, talking with attendees and taking selfies.

Belichick wrote how he wanted to promote the book.

“I will say again, that I want this book to be presented as a look at my professional life and how I did my job on the way up to, and as the leader of an organization that grew from a $500 [million] franchise to an $8 [billion] organization that played in 10 and won six Super Bowls over 25 years,” Belichick wrote. “This book is about how I did my job, and lessons from my 50 years in and around the NFL – not a bathroom book that highlights my mistakes.”

Hudson’s Instagram post on Tuesday had a second slide.

In the second slide, she posted a screenshot of a video in her camera roll. It shows two sets of shoes on grass and a timestamp showing the video is 35 minutes and 59 seconds long. She also tagged CBS Sunday Morning’s Instagram account and Tony Dokoupil, the journalist who conducted the interview.

In Sunday’s interview, Dokoupil asked Belichick how he met Hudson. Before Belichick could answer the question, Hudson said, off camera and from the producer’s table: “We’re not talking about this.”

The pair met in February 2021, according to other Hudson posts. She also posted a short video of the inscription that Belichick wrote in a book on Feb. 11, 2021, the date the pair met.

Hudson was a “constant presence” during the interview, CBS said in the piece. According to a report from NBC Sports, it was not the only time Hudson interjected during the interview, which they said could be why CBS may have included the one instance.

In the book, Belichick referred to Hudson as his “idea mill and creative muse.” Hudson calls Belichick “my twin flame” on social media.

The Tar Heels open the Belichick era on Sept. 1 against TCU in Chapel Hill. The game was moved to Labor Day night and will be televised nationally on ESPN.
