Jake Davis hired as Felton Grove’s opening boys basketball coach
An experienced Wake County assistant coach will be the first head basketall coach at Felton Grove High School.
Joseph Sharrow, the athletic director of the brand new school, announced on Tuesday that Jake Davis will lead the boys basketball program.
He is the second head coach that the Galaxy has hired. The school picked John Mozerka to head the football program.
Davis is a native of Eastern North Carolina. He graduated from Richlands High School in 2011. In high school, he was a multi-sport athlete who played baseball, basketball, and golf. He lettered all 4 years of high school athletic career.
For college, Davis atttended NC State University and graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in History.
Davis served as a varsity assistant at Broughton High School for ten years. He was the JV head coachh from 2019 to 2024. During his time leading the JV team, he compiled a 65–32 overall record, highlighted by a 19–4 season in 2023–2024 which resulted in a JV conference championship.
Most recently, Davis was the head JV coach and an assistant at Green Level High School this past season.
As an assistant, Davis helped the 2017-18 Broughton squad and the 2024-25 Green Level squad reach the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A state quarterfinal round.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to build our program at Felton Grove, and being selected as the first coach in program history is an honor that I will cherish for the rest of my career,” Davis said. “My staff and I are excited about the many milestones waiting to be set, and look forward to welcoming the first group of students this fall.”
The Galaxy will compete in the Triangle Six 6A/7A Conference with fellow 6A Middle Creek as well as 7As Cardinal Gibbons, Cary, Holly Springs, and Sanderson.
