Hickory WR Jamien Little commits to play at Duke
Duke landed an in-state commitment from Hickory senior wide receiver Jamien Little over the weekend.
Little is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound receiver who is rated a three-star player by 247Sports.com. The recruiting website ranks him as the No. 12 player in North Carolina from the Class of 2025 and the No. 64 wide receiver nationally.
Previously, Little had committed to Wake Forest in March, but he announced he was rescinding that commitment last month. His decision over the weekend came down to Duke and North Carolina.
So far this season, Little has recorded 51 receptions for 1,167 yards and 16 touchdowns. It is his second straight 1,000-yard season. As a junior last season, Little posted 1,372 yards and 20 touchdowns on 70 receptions, leading Hickory to the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3A state championship.
Little has also recorded one punt return and one kick return for a touchdown this season. On defense he has 24 total tackles, five pass deflections, and one interception which he returned for a touchdown.
The Red Tornadoes are now 13-0 this season and will host North Lincoln in the fourth round of the state playoffs on Friday night as they look to defend their state title.
Coaches for the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas selected Little to participate in the all-star game this year. Last season, he was named to the HighSchoolOT All-State Team.
Little also plays basketball for Hickory. Last season, he recorded 13.1 points per game for the Red Tornadoes.
Duke now has four in-state commitments from the Class of 2025. Little joins Grimsley edge rusher Bryce Davis, Williams quarterback Dan Mahan, and Wake Forest quarterback Kavon Simmons in committing to the Blue Devils.
Little is also one of four wide receivers committed to Duke from his class. Of the others who have committed, Little is the highest rated wide receiver based on 247Sports.com’s ratings.
Duke football coach Manny Diaz is completing his first year as the head coach of the Blue Devils. Diaz led his team to a 9-3 regular season record this fall and has qualified for a bowl game. Duke posted an ACC record of 5-3.
