The Durham Bulls hit four home runs in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader to secure a split against Gwinnett at Coolray Field.
After dropping the opener 5-0, the Bulls (11-18) powered their way against Gwinnett (13-15) starter Ray Kerr. Junior Caminero hit a two-run shot in the first, then Gionti Turner and Jonny DeLuca hit consecutive homers against Kerr in the third inning. Caminero followed later with his second homer of the game, an opposite field clout in the fifth to nail down the win.
Nathan Wiles (W, 2-2) earned the win in relief, working three innings of one-run ball.
In the opener, the Bulls were shutout for the first time this season, managing just three hits in a 5-0 defeat.
The six-game series continues Thursday night at 7:05 PM ET with Jacob Waguespack (0-1, 9.00) expected to start against Dylan Dodd (2-1, 3.49)
Durham returns home against the Nashville Sounds on Tuesday, May 7th.
