A speedy wide receiver from West Charlotte High School is now a member of the Baltimore Ravens . Tez Walker was selected with the 13th pick in the fourth round. The former North Carolina Tar Heel will next run routes for Lamar Jackson.

The 2019 high school graduate faced some adversity in college but now has opportunity to represent Charlotte on the national level.

Walker had 63 receptions for 1,045 yards and 12 touchdowns over two seasons at Kent State. Last fall, after a delay to the start of his season, Walker caught 41 passes for 699 yards and seven touchdowns with the Tar Heels.

At West Charlotte, Walker was credited with 48 receptions for 923 yards, and two touchdowns over his junior and senior seasons, according to West Charlotte’s MaxPreps. Defensively, he has 36 total tackles and six interceptions attributed to him.

Walker was also a good basketball player and helped the Lions make it to the 2019 4A state championship game, where they fell to South Central. Walker averaged 6.6 points-per-game and 5.1 rebounds-per-game over his junior and senior years.

Coming out of high school, Walker was a 3-star prospect and ranked as the No. 97 player in North Carolina in the 247Sports Composite. He first attended NC Central, which had its 2020 football season and planned backup spring 2021 season canceled as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. That is when he transferred to Kent State.
