Forbush picks Logan Holder to lead its football program
Forbush High School has its next head football coach.
Logan Holder, a class of 2015 graduate of Mount Airy High School, has been hired to lead the Falcons’ program.
Holder, a former three-sport athlete at Mount Airy, is the son of former Granite Bears head coach Kelly Holder. He is replacing previous Forbush head coach Jeremy Funderburk.
Logan was on the staff of Mount Airy’s 2022 1A state championship team. He coached at Davie County High School in 2023 and then served as the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at East Surry High School this past season. East Surry averaged 35.7 points and 343.2 scrimmage yards per game under Holder. The Cardinals finished with a 9-3 overall record after making a trip to the second round of the 2A playoffs.
Forbush, located in East Bend, Yadkin County, is coming off of a 3-7 finish in 2024. Yadkin County is directly to the south of Holder’s home county of Surry.
With an average daily membership of 800 students, Forbush will be a 4A program after the N.C. High School Athletic Association realigns into eight classifications before next school year.
In the first draft of the new conferences, Forbush is in a 2A/3A/4A league with 2As Alleghany, East Wilkes, and Elkin, 3As North Wilkes and West Wilkes, and fellow 4As Ashe County and Wilkes Central. As it is a first draft, the conference is subject to change through additional revisions.
Forbush shared a message that Holder wrote to the Falcon community:
Falcon Nation,
As I take on this role, I want to acknowledge that my journey here would not have been possible without the unwavering support of my wife. I am fortunate to have my incredible wife, Madison Holder, by my side. Together, we are excited to become a part of this vibrant community and are eager to contribute to the tradition and success of Falcon Athletics.
Our mission is simple: to build a football program that excels not only on the field but also in the classroom and in life. We will focus on developing young men of character, discipline, and integrity, while fostering a culture of hard work, respect, and discipline. The values instilled through the game of football will shape the leaders of tomorrow, both on and off the field.
The road ahead will require effort, dedication, and a collective commitment from players, coaches, parents, and the entire Falcon Nation. But I have no doubt that, together, we will achieve great things. I am confident that with the support of this community, we will build a program that we can all be proud of.
My wife and I look forward to meeting all of you and to what will undoubtedly be an exciting journey together. Let’s make the upcoming season one to remember as we work to take Falcon football to new heights!
Thank you for your support, and let’s get to work!
Sincerely,
Logan Holder
Head Football Coach
