NC State supporters are once again feeling elated following a significant victory on Thursday evening.
The NCAA tournament’s first round saw the men’s basketball team triumph over Texas Tech with a score of 80-67.
On Friday, individuals sporting NC State apparel on campus were excited to discuss the current success of our team.
It is typical to spot various shades of red representing the Wolfpack on NC State’s campus. However, in the past week, there is a noticeable change.
“It’s abuzz around campus,” stated Sullivan Kojola. “With everyone returning from spring break, tomorrow night is bound to be even more exciting, especially since it’s the weekend.”
The victory against Texas Tech on Thursday evening continued into the early hours of the morning, but students were still eager to gather at the bell tower and rejoice.
The student union store is now stocked with fresh products following the team’s first ACC championship in 37 years. Along with their first tournament victory since 2015, this achievement has students envisioning a successful run in the upcoming tournament.
“It’s an amazing feeling, especially as a first-year student,” shared Joey Sabatino. “It’s unbelievable to start a season like this.”
Down the street, supporters and former students gathered for lunch at Players Retreat. On Thursday night, the bar was crowded with enthusiastic fans.
Alumnus Kenneth Erickson expressed his enthusiasm for being able to watch another game and witness the team in action. He believes it will be an exciting experience to see the team’s level of enthusiasm and happiness.
The game in Pittsburgh was a late night for senior guard DJ Horne and his family. On Friday, father Lamar Horne expressed gratitude for the opportunity to witness his son make history.

The Wolfpack is close to advancing to the Sweet Sixteen. Their next opponent is Oakland, who recently defeated 3-seed Kentucky, in the round of 32 on Saturday night.
According to Horne, as Jimmy V famously stated, the key to success is to “survive and advance” and ultimately triumph as part of the Wolfpack.
