Second-team All-ACC in 2023. The Biletnikoff Award Watch List this season. Not bad for a quarterback turned wide receiver. Now Duke’s Jordan Moore is ready to move from good to great in his third full season at the position.

“It’s no longer an experiment,” Moore said after practice on Wednesday. “It’s a place I should be at, and a place where I can excel at.”

After making the transition under former head coach Mike Elko in fall camp in 2022, Moore has wracked up 120 catches,1,491 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns in two seasons. He became part of a two-headed monster on offense with former Duke star Jalon Calhoun. At this point in his career, Moore playing wide receiver doesn’t seem like a big deal. It’s more of a fun fact that he used to play quarterback, an ice breaker he’d share at the beginning of a meeting. He’s not tired of telling the tale.

“If you have a unique story, why not share it?” Moore said.

Offensive coordinator Jonathan Brewer hasn’t been in Durham for most of Moore’s career, but he said the wide receiver has all of the traits you’d expect in a “special” player.

“I think what the common denominator in what I see in Jordan and see in guys we’ve coached that have been excellent in the past is the ability to practice every day and master his craft,” Brewer said. “He doesn’t take days off, he’s always running a route to win.”

Talk about being a quarterback’s best friend. The Biletnikoff Award goes to the nation’s top receiver. Moore credits his parents for building the foundation in his life.

“They raised us in a way where our mindset is different. My parents never wanted to put limits on what we could do as kids, if we wanted to jump they’d say, ‘how high?'”

It turns out Moore can jump pretty high.

“For me to come in at quarterback for two years, and two years later, I’m on the list of all the best receivers in the nation… it just shows, you can’t put limits on yourself. Whatever you want to do in this world, you can do it,” Moore said.

Duke starts its season on August 30 in Durham against Elon. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
