Duke’s No. 10 team may lose a valuable player for a period of time due to an injury sustained during the game against Wake Forest. Rookie guard Caleb Foster did not participate in the game against Louisville due to a foot injury he sustained in their previous match against the Demon Deacons, which they lost 83-79.

According to head coach Jon Scheyer of the Blue Devils, we will have to make adaptations in the absence of Caleb, following our victory on Monday.

I feel sorry for him that he was unable to participate in today’s game. He has had a successful year and contributes to the team’s victories in various ways beyond just the statistics. Unfortunately, we will be without him for a while. I am unsure of the exact timeframe, but we must adapt and rise to the challenge.

The rookie from Harrisburg, NC has established a position for himself on Duke’s current team with average stats of 7.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 15 starts. He has stepped up to take over for injured guards like Tyrese Proctor and Jeremy Roach. Foster’s playing time of 25.5 minutes per game ranks sixth on the team.

“Scheyer stated that the absence of Caleb or any of the guards significantly transforms the team’s dynamic.”

According to Scheyer, we need to change our perspective. Replacing Caleb with someone else on our team is not a simple solution as Caleb has a unique role.

In the game against Louisville, first-year players Sean Stewart and TJ Power stepped up to replace the missing player. Stewart made a valuable contribution off the bench with nine points and nine rebounds, while Power had his longest playing time (15 minutes) since December 30 against Queens. Power ended the game with three points and an assist. Coach Scheyer revealed that he had a conversation with Power prior to the game.

Scheyer stated that one should not base their worth on making or missing shots. It’s important to remember that hard work can sometimes lead to such outcomes, but the most important thing is to focus on competing and giving your all. Overall, Scheyer thought the individual did a commendable job of doing just that during the game.

On Saturday, Duke will have a game against Virginia at Cameron Indoor Stadium starting at 6 p.m.
