Duke flips Grimsley 4-star DE Bryce Davis from Clemson
A pleasant surprise for Duke football fans.
36 days after an in-state standout Bryce Davis chose Clemson over Duke, he has flipped his commitment to the Blue Devils. Duke made Davis a priority from the beginning. The program’s continued efforts to land Davis finally paid off on Sunday.
The senior shared the news of his flip to his Instagram account at noon.
The Grimsley High School edge rusher is a consensus 4-star prospect and ranked in the top 77 class of 2025 prospects in the country by Rivals, ESPN, and 247Sports. Rivals is the highest on Davis at No. 53 in the country.
Davis and Grimsley won their first game of the 2024 season on Friday. The Whirlies defeated Mount Tabor 34-12 in an HSOT Top 25 matchup.
Davis, a 6-foot-3 and 265-pound prospect. He missed most of his junior season with a knee injury. As a sophomore, Davis was selected to the HighSchoolOT All-State Football Team as a Third Team selection. He had 85 tackles, 24 tackles for a loss, 12 sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and a blocked punt that season.
After Davis announced his initial commitment to Clemson, he spoke highly of Duke in an interview with HighSchoolOT.
“What coach Diaz is doing there (has stood out),” Davis said at the time. “I respect him, I respect his program. Just how much of a priority I was to them, it speaks volume and it was something that kept them in the fight for this long.”
