Legendary ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale announced Friday he has cancer again.

Vitale, 85, posted to the social media platform X about his diagnosis.

“My report on the biopsy of the lymph node in my neck has arrived & it is cancerous,” Vitale wrote.

Vitale said he would have surgery on Tuesday. He thanked his family, friends and ESPN for their support.

On June 26, Vitale posted a picture on X of him receiving a biopsy of the lymph node found on his neck. The picture is with Dr. Peter Vosler, who is based in Sarasota, Florida, where Vitale lives.

This is the latest cancer diagnosis for Vitale.

ESPN reports Vitale had a vocal cord cancer and underwent radiation treatment. In November 2023, he announced he was cancer-free but had to push back a return to ESPN broadcasts. He was planning to return this season.

Vitale chronicled his treatments and recovery on social media, posting photos of doctor visits and hospital stays.

In 2021, Vitale was diagnosed with lymphoma, months after he had multiple surgeries to remove melanoma.
