Davie County to replace Tim Devericks as head football coach
Davie County High School is seeking a new head football coach for 2025. The new coach would replace Tim Devericks, who served in the role since the 2016 season.
Devericks took over the post from DeVore Hamilton in the middle of the 2016 season and led the War Eagles to five consecutive wins and a 12-2 overall finish.
Interested applicants are to send a letter of interest and resume to Principal Michael Pruitt at [email protected] and county athletic director David Koontz at [email protected].
Devericks is also the school’s athletic director, a position he took over in 2021.
As Davie’s football coach, Devericks led the War Eagles to an overall record of 45-47.
In addition to Davie’s N.C. High School Athletic Association third round trip in Devericks’ first time as the leader, he led the team to a second round appearance in 2019 and first round appearances in 2017, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
In 2024, Davie finished with a mark of 3-7 overall, 2-5 in the Central Piedmont 4A Conference, and missed the playoffs.
Davie’s average daily membership this school year is 1,949 students. That enrollment number has positioned the War Eagles to become a 7A team after the NCHSAA officially realigns into eight classifications.
In the initial draft of new conferences, Davie was placed in a 6A/7A conference with 6As North Iredell and Statesville and fellow 7As Lake Norman, Mooresville, and South Iredell. The conference plans are subject to change following the appeals period.
