Corinth Holders needs a new head football coach for the second consecutive season

Corinth Holders High School will have another new head football coach for the 2024 season. Last offseason, the Pirates hired former Rolesville High and Parkland High head coach Martin Samek to lead the program. Samek is no longer with the school, he confirmed with HighSchoolOT.

Samek posted a message to his X account that was directed to the Corinth Holders football program that read: “I wanted to say to the players it was a great to coach all of you and good luck in the future. Anything I can do for any of you please let me know. To the parents for those who helped us thank you very much. I am much better off for meeting most of you. Good luck.”

The Pirates finished with a 2-8 overall record in Samek’s lone season steering the ship. Corinth plays in the Greater Neuse River 4A Conference, in which it had a 1-6 mark last season.

From 2019-2022, Samek coached Rolesville to a 28-10 overall record. He led the Rams to a regional championship in the spring 2021 Covid season, but they fell to Chambers in the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 4AA state championship game. A year later, Samek had Rolesville back in the eastern regional final, but the Rams lost to eventual 4A state champion Cardinal Gibbons in a one-score game.

Samek was 36-47 in his time at Parkland. He dug the Mustangs out of consecutive 0-11 seasons to eventually finishing 11-2 and 9-4 in his final two seasons there.

Corinth Holders won 7, 9, and 9 games from 2013-2015, but the Pirates haven’t been able to finish with a winning record since then. In 2023-2024, it was the 18th-most populated school in North Carolina with 2,369 students.
