Chapel Hill first team all-state midfielder Scarlett Gilner commits to play girls lacrosse at Elon
Scarlett Gilner, a three-sport star athlete at Chapel Hill in the Class of 2026, has pledged her commitment to play girls lacrosse at Elon where she will join her sister Addie.
Last spring, Gilner was the only sophomore to be named first team all-state by HighSchoolOT. She has finished Top-20 in the nation in goals scored in each of her first two seasons with the Tigers. All 20 first team selections have now found a home at the Division-I level.
She helped guide Chapel Hill to the NCHSAA 4A regional final behind the effort of 112 goals, 32 assists, and 116 draws controlled. She enters her junior year with 243 career goals scored.
Gilner was a 2024 USA Lacrosse All-American and an All-State selection by the North Carolina Lacrosse Coaches Association.
In the fall she participates as a member of the school’s field hockey team. 15 of her 45 career goals have come in 9 games played this season. As a guard for Chapel Hill’s girls basketball team, Gilner averaged 4.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per contest to help the Tigers to the fourth round of the state playoffs.
Scarlett’s sister Addie, now a freshman at Elon, tallied 139 points her senior year and was also a first team all-state selection. Fellow first-teamer Ashton Beale, a Charlotte recruit, is another multi-sport athlete at Chapel Hill and returns this spring after posting 54 goals in 2024.
