Cedric Gray from UNC has decided to not participate in the upcoming bowl game and instead declare for the NFL Draft. This information was reported on WRALSportsFan.com.
Chapel Hill, N.C.
The star defensive player of North Carolina is going to the NFL and will not participate in the Tar Heels’ bowl game.
Cedric Gray, a linebacker on the All-ACC team, announced his decision on social media on Monday.
Many of Gray’s well-known colleagues at UNC have opted for the same decision. Quarterback Drake Maye, wide receiver Tez Walker, and offensive lineman Corey Gaynor have all announced their intentions to enter the draft and will not participate in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on December 27th.
UNC’s leading tackler, Gray, recorded 121 tackles, five sacks, and an interception, setting a new career high. He was selected for the All-ACC first team for the second consecutive year.
Gray has one more season of eligibility left, but he announced on his social media that he is set to graduate this month.
The Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte will feature the Tar Heels taking on West Virginia, a team from Gray’s hometown.
In the previous month, Gray agreed to participate in the Reese’s Senior Bowl happening on February 3.
Last week, Walker declared he would participate in the Senior Bowl and then move on to the NFL.
