Cardinal Gibbons All-State lineman Jack Sheehan will play at ODU

Cardinal Gibbons High School will send an offensive lineman to play at a Division I FBS school in Virginia.

Yesterday, senior offensive tackle Jack Sheehan committed to play for the Monarchs of Old Dominion University.

The Crusader is listed at 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds. Sheehan was named as an honorable mention selection to the 2023 HighSchoolOT All-State football team. He is the son of Michael Sheehan, who played at East Carolina University under Steve Logan.

Old Dominion competes in the Sun Belt Conference. Once there, Sheehan will join Jackson Forrest, a linebacker from Northwest Cabarrus High School.

Sheehan won the 4A state championship with Cardinal Gibbons in 2021. Last year, Cardinal Gibbons concluded the season with a 12-3 overall record after falling to Hoggard in the 4A East regional final.

This season, the Crusaders are ranked as the No. 16 team in the state in the HighSchoolOT preseason Top 25 poll.

Catch Sheehan and Cardinal Gibbons at the 2024 HSOT Jamboree at Wake Forest High School on Saturday, Aug. 17. Gibbons will play in the 7:00 p.m. game against Millbrook.
