The fourth edition of the HighSchoolOT girls cross country all-state team includes 18 runners who have been selected for the team for the second, third, or fourth time. This year, two runners have been chosen for the first-team for the second consecutive year.

The top 10 runners from each team are placed on the first, second, and third teams according to their championship times. An additional five runners receive honorable mention based on a combination of their championship time and placement.

The complete list of teams is provided below, with runners ranked according to their championship times. Justine Preisano from Cuthbertson and Mary Bonner Dalton from Myers Park are the first individuals to be selected four times.

In Preisano’s first two years, they were on the third team, but then moved up to the first team in their last two years. Dalton started on the second team as a freshman and then earned a spot on the first team for three consecutive seasons.

  • Both Justine Preisano and Mary Bonner Dalton were chosen for the all-state team four times.

  • Seven individuals have been chosen for the all-state team three times: Hannah Rae Shaffer, Chandler Welsh, Charlotte Bell, Grace Hanson, Annie Miller, Ina Lazarczyk, and Carly Arrington.

  • Eight individuals were chosen for all-state honors twice: Caroline Barton, Kasey Dingman, Joiner Evans, Ashlei Summers, Kate Willette, Abby Smith, Breanna Budzinski, Blane McElroy, and Tori Stonebraker.

  • Dalton and Shaffer have both been selected for the first team three times.

  • Two individuals who have been selected for the first team twice: Welsh and Preisano.

First Team

Mary Bonner Dalton, Myers Park (senior) — 16:54.06, 4A champ

Morgan Boonshaft, a senior from Providence Day, won the NCISAA 4A championship with a time of 17:34.55.

Chandler Welsh, a senior from R.J. Reynolds, placed second in the 4A race with a time of 17:44.17.

Grace Hanson from Weddington High School, a senior, finished third in the 4A race with a time of 17:46.85.

Ashlei Summers, a senior at Hoggard High School, placed 4th in the 4A race with a time of 17:51.23.

Hannah Rae Shaffer, a junior at Cardinal Gibbons, placed 5th in the 4A category with a time of 17:55.36.

Morgan Miller, a sophomore from First Flight High School, won the 3A championship with a time of 18:05.84.

Addy Mitchell, a junior from Cardinal Gibbons, placed 6th in the 4A division with a time of 18:07.96.

At 18:09.14, Erin Pope from Fike (senior) placed second in the 3A category.

Annie Miller from Metrolina Christian (junior) placed second in the NCISAA 4A with a time of 18:12.23.

Second Team

Caitlin Kasten, a freshman at Covenant Day, placed third in the NCISAA 4A race with a time of 18:12.54.

Justine Preisano from Cuthbertson High School placed 7th in the 4A competition with a time of 18:12.66.

Louisa Betz from Broughton High School, a sophomore, finished in 8th place with a time of 18:14.23 in the 4A division.

Kasey Dingman is a sophomore at Lake Norman High School and placed 9th in the 4A category with a time of 18 minutes and 16.32 seconds.

Caroline Barton, a junior at Carolina Day, won the NCISAA 2A championship with a time of 18:16.99.
Charlotte Bell, Cuthbertson (senior) — 18:17.47, 10th in 4A

Joiner Evans from Mount Tabor High School is a senior and placed 11th in the 4A category with a time of 18:20.82.

Carly Arrington, a senior at Providence Day, placed 14th in the NCISAA 4A race with a time of 18:26.2.

Sophomore Josie Schihl from Cuthbertson placed 12th in the 4A category with a time of 18:28.30.

Eliza Brand, a senior from Mount Tabor, finished in 13th place in the 4A race with a time of 18:32.54.

Third Team

Catherine Parker, a junior at NCSSM-Durham, won the 2A championship with a time of 18 minutes and 32.64 seconds.
Olivia Ferraro, North Lincoln (sophomore) — 18:33.49, 3rd in 3A

Blane McElroy from Providence Day, a junior, finished with a time of 18 minutes and 36.415 seconds in the NCISAA 4A race.

Kate Willette is a sophomore from Charlotte Christian who finished in 6th place in the NCISAA 4A race with a time of 18:36.52.

Lauren Horwitt, a senior at Marvin Ridge High School, achieved a time of 18:36.72 and placed 14th in the 4A category.
Nicole Alfers, Christ the King (junior) — 18:37.21, 1A champ

Breanna Budzinski, a senior from West Henderson, finished in fourth place in the 3A division with a time of 18:38.48.

Rachel Riley, a freshman from Mount Tabor High School, placed 15th in the 4A division with a time of 18:39.26.
Abby Smith, Asheville School (senior) — 18:39.98, NCISAA 3A champ

Ina Lazarczyk from Cardinal Gibbons High School, a junior, finished in 16th place in the 4A race with a time of 18:40.25.

Honorable Mention

Haley Browne from Ravenscroft High School finished in 7th place at the NCISAA 4A race with a time of 18:41.92.

Sam Vanderhave, a sophomore at Charlotte Country Day, placed 8th in NCISAA 4A with a time of 18:47.75.

Katie Johnson, a senior at North Buncombe, achieved a time of 18:48.80 and placed 5th in the 3A category.

Cate Hata, a junior at Hickory Christian, placed 2nd in the NCISAA 2A race with a time of 18:57.33.

Tori Stonebraker, a senior at Cary Christian, finished in second place in the NCISAA 3A race with a time of 18:57.67.
