Bryce Young to start for Panthers :: WRALSportsFan.com

Bryce Young, former number one overall pick of the Carolina Panthers will be starting at quarterback this weekend that according to, uh, the recent media availability like ongoing. Literally right now of Dave Canalis, the head coach of the Carolina Panthers, Andy Dalton has a sprained thumb. Oh, ok. I’m assuming now this is where assumptions can, uh, can, can become a little dangerous. Uh, I’m assuming that happened in the car accident involving Andy Dalton yesterday. That’s a strange twist in this story because it’s, if you listen to the past, I don’t know, 34 days of the show, you know, that I believe that’s the right decision. I couldn’t think of a reason why Andy Dalton should be playing because he’s the nearly 37 year old and this season is a lost season for the Carolina Panthers. And, uh, you have to see what Bryce Young ends up being, but Andy Andy Dalton was the, the guy for the coaching staff. Dave Canalis said he’s our starter. He’s our guy, we’re rallying behind him. Now, due to a car accident on a Tuesday that had by all the accounts, I’ve read no serious injuries, a thumb sprain a sprain thumb that according to Joe person, uh who is uh obviously um at the, the press conference for, for Dave Canalis, Bryce Young’s gonna start. It is stumbling into the right decision. It is being forced into the right decision. I wish Dave Canalis made this decision because I think that would be the, the, the mark that he’s seeing things the right way, but by any means, right? I don’t care how you get there as long as you get there. Right. I’m not, I’m not the math teacher that says yes. The correct answer is seven. How did you get there? I’m going. Yes. The correct answer is seven. Good job. Next question, Andy Dalton playing. It just didn’t make sense. Um, I actually have Canalis talking for just actually a couple of seconds ago. Look at this Dennis Cox producing the show. Here’s audio from Dave Canalis. First of all, I’m sure you’ve heard, uh Andy Dalton was in a car accident yesterday, uh, with his family, with JJ and the kids. Um, and a scary moment for sure. Um, everyone was ok, everyone was healthy. Um, unfortunately, in the accident he did sprain his thumb. Um, so Bryce will be playing this week for us and we’ll be evaluating Andy day to day going into this weekend to see if we can get him up, um, as the two on game day. So, uh, let the team know really just right now coming off the field. Um, they were, they all kind of saw but I wanted them to have the official, you know, just report the official news about what our plan is going for this weekend. Bryce Young back in the saddle again. By the way, when Eddie Dalton walked onto the practice field today, he was just in a sweatshirt, had his jersey over and things like that. I, I noticed I didn’t think of anything of it but hands were in the pockets like in the hoodie. I was like, oh, maybe he was covering up if his thumb was wrapped up or something like that. So now I’m like, oh, ok. There it is. That’s an interesting little, uh, little. So if, if he can’t, if he’s not available on Sunday, Andy Dalton is the number two, then to be Jack Plummer off the practice squad will probably be elevated with a standard elevation, which is good. I mean, that’s what, that’s the reason why you keep a third guy in your practice squad. I find this interesting, this, this move to Bryce Young, interesting for a bunch of reasons. Uh, Diana Russini, uh, who is, she used to be for ESPN and then she was with the athletic, she is with the athletics senior NFL Insider for the athletic, uh, tweeted this out earlier. I’ve asked around the league what the Panthers should do with Bryce Young most believe they needed to get him really prepared at practice and put him in a few games, helps his value. So if they decide they want to trade him, they can get the best compensation. I use thumb injuries jokingly as the three or four week injury because they’re very, very rarely serious. Right? A thumb sprain a, a thumb fracture. I’ve actually, I don’t, I can show you on, on youtube my right hand, which is this one here, uh doesn’t open all the way because I broke my thumb three times growing up. Uh, so it, it’s kinda like that. So I know the, the, the rehab for a thumb injury, uh, usually it’s just rest until you can grip a football if you’re a quarterback. So if they’re looking to get Bryce Young, like three starts, a thumb injury is borderline, best case scenario. Uh, and you don’t have to make a decision on who your quarterback is until Andy Dalton’s healthy, which could be next week, could be the week after, it could be the week after three weeks, takes you to the bye week, which would be just too perfect, which also leads right up to the trade deadline, which would be interesting enough there. I think it’s more of an off-season trade, but if you want to get it done in season, that’s fine. Uh The one thing I will say and this is, this is where like you’re gonna look at Bryce Young and go, yeah, your, your luck has been exactly. What it’s been in the past year. Um, they’re playing Denver in Denver. Denver gives up the fifth fewest passing yards per game. They give up the third fewest points per game. So this is not an easy, hey, let’s go roll him out there and make him look good. This is Bryce Young. Better have his, his big boy pants on because he’s going out there against one of the best defenses in the NFL and he’s gonna in, in high elevation and all that funny stuff and he’s gonna have to play well because I’ll tell you right now, the first two or three series don’t go well, the reputation is going to precede him and people are gonna jump all over it. Bryce Young, for those of you just tuning in, he will be starting for the Carolina Panthers this weekend against Denver due to a thumb sprain suffered. I, I believe in the, uh, what appears to be all everyone’s safe but a decent, uh, like not a true fender bender car accident that Andy Dalton and his family were in yesterday. We have the audio from Dave Canalis making that announcement. We’ll play it for you one more time. Uh, first of all, I’m sure you’ve heard, uh, Andy Dalton was in a car accident yesterday, uh, with his family, with JJ and the kids, um, and a scary moment for sure. Um, everyone was ok. Everyone was healthy. Um, unfortunately in the accident, he did sprain his thumb. Um, so Bryce will be playing this week for us and we’ll be evaluating Andy day to day going into this weekend to see if we can get him up, um, as the two on game day. So let the team know really just right now coming off the field, they were, they all kind of saw, but I wanted them to have the official, you know, just report the official news about what our plan is going for this weekend. Do you know what I’m most excited for, for this move? It’s not for, for Bryce, although I’m sure he’s excited to get back out there and I’m sure the Bryce supporters and Bryce defenders think, you know, hey, another shot. It’s just what he needs. I am excited for Dave Canalis. I’ve been rough on Dave Canalis through the first whatever, 67 weeks of the season. He gets another, another go at it. I didn’t think he protected Bryce Young at all or aided him or, or helped him with the play calling through the first two games. Right. I thought he overthought himself. I thought he tried to get too cute right. The, the first pass of the season for Andy Dalton and his start was a four yard speed out. The first pass of the season for Bryce Young was play action so he turns his back to the defense long drop after that hitch up and throw a deep crosser over the middle on a timing route to a brand new wide receiver that he had never played in a game with and only had one preseason series with Deontay Johnson. I wanna see how you, you, what you learned from that. What does a quarterback need to ease themselves in? Especially a young quarterback, Bryce Young’s gonna be easing himself back in again. Can Dave Canalis help him this time? Can he help him this time? Can Bryce help himself? We can complete a four yard out? I hope so. I mean, I know he can, we’ve seen it, he can complete a four yard out and then you go from there. It’s really hard to stop a snowball when it’s going against you on a bad team and that first pass as we all know, and the defense had already started it by giving up the deep ball in week one. The snowball already started like it’s obvious Bryce Young through the two games we saw this year was not ready to be the, the rising tide that made everyone around him better. He had to focus on him and, and they were treating him like the quarterback that was going to rise. Uh, you know, all the boats around him. I wanna see Dave Canalis do better than that. I wanna see Bryce Young do better if Dave Canalis doesn’t help him out. I wanna see him handle it. Better. Learn from your mistakes too. Both of you can’t be as, it can’t. And I say this hopefully can’t be as bad as it was. Week one.
