Brian Hales, the coach who led Butler’s football team to a state championship, has resigned from his position as the school’s head coach.

Brian Hales is not the most experienced coach in Mecklenburg County anymore.

On Monday, Hales announced on Butler High School’s X football account that he will be resigning from the position.

Hales has served as Butler’s head coach since 2011. During Hales’ leadership, Butler claimed victory in the 2012 4AA state championship against Jack Britt High School, with a final score of 56-28.

The Bulldogs were victorious in eight seasons with at least ten wins and earned a total of nine conference championship titles.

In total, Butler had a record of 132 wins and 35 losses with Hales as the coach.

During his last season as the head coach of Butler, Hales led the team to a record of 12-2, winning the Southwestern 4A Conference title and advancing to the fourth round.

Hales recently announced on X that he will be resigning as HFC at BHS, stating, “Once A Bulldog, Always A Bulldog!” He reassured everyone that he is doing well and is looking forward to figuring out his next 50 years. He also expressed gratitude and love to all for their support. Hales concluded with, “Hales, out!”
