Braxton Winston, a three-star recruit from Providence Day, has committed to Wake Forest, making him the first in-state recruit for the class of 2025.

On Sunday, Braxton Winston, a senior at Providence Day School, announced his commitment to play football at Wake Forest University. He will be the first in-state commitment for the class of 2025 among the Demon Deacons.

Since he was a freshman, Winston has been a cornerback for the Chargers, a team that has consistently won the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I state championship every year. Winston has played a crucial part in each of the three championship victories.

He is recorded as being 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 175 pounds.

During his time at Providence Day, Winston has accumulated a total of 103 tackles, five of which were for a loss. Additionally, he has recorded five interceptions, 24 successful pass breakups, and has recovered a fumble and blocked a field goal. On top of his football accomplishments, Winston is also a point guard for Providence Day’s varsity basketball team, who were the 4A runner-up this past season.

The cornerback opted for Wake Forest instead of accepting offers from Boston College, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Duke, East Carolina, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Tech, Liberty, Marshall, Stanford, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.
