Boring throws 4 touchdowns as Hoggard runs past J.H. Rose
Matthew Boring and Blake Edwards connected for three touchdowns on Friday night as Hoggard ran past J.H. Rose.
The Vikings scored the first 45 points of the game en route to a 45-6 win to wrap up non-conference play.
Boring and Edwards scored their first touchdown early in the first quarter on a seven-yard pass. Isaiah Newkirk added a nine-yard touchdown to give Hoggard a 14-0 lead after one quarter.
Hoggard really began to pull away in the second quarter.
Boring and Edwards scored their second touchdown on a pass from the 15-yard line. Then, after an Anaiis Tyson 29-yard field goal, Boring and Edwards scored a third touchdown on a 10-yard pass to put Hoggard up 31-0.
Just before halftime, Boring completed a seven-yard pass to Demetrius Smith for his fourth passing touchdown of the game. Hoggard led 38-0 at halftime.
Newkirk scored one last touchdown in the third quarter, breaking in from the one-yard line and triggering a running clock as Hoggard took a 45-0 lead into the fourth quarter.
J.H. Rose managed one touchdown in the fourth quarter to avoid the shutout.
Boring finished the game 13-of-17 for 182 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. Edwards caught four passes for 37 yards, but three of those receptions were touchdowns.
Desyn Durand led team in receiving with 69 yards on four receptions. Newkirk finished with 110 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries.
Hoggard (2-1) opens conference play on Sept. 20 with a road trip to North Brunswick. J.H. Rose (0-4) also opens conference play next week. The Rampants will travel to Jacksonville.
