Blane McElroy named NC Soccer Coaches’ POTY; 3 make All-American, 12 make all-Mid-Atlantic

Providence Day junior midfielder Blane McElroy was named state player of the year by the N.C. Soccer Coaches Association, headlining the first of three sets of postseason honors in which the N.C. Soccer Coaches Association is involved.

McElroy scored 39 goals and had 31 assists this year for the Chargers.

Three players from the NCSCA’s all-state team were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-American team: Chapel Hill’s Gabby Ciocca, Hough’s Kylee Thompson, and McElroy.

In addition, 12 players made the United Soccer Coaches’ All-Mid-Atlantic region team.

They were: Chapel Hill’s Ciocca and Anna Rydin, Providence Day’s McElroy and Jaida McGrew, Thompson, Hoggard’s Ellis Kelly, Pine Lake Prep’s Maddyson Kerley, West Forsyth’s Aislynn Maguire, West Henderson’s Marianne Maxon, Charlotte Latin’s Dempsey McMahon, Cuthbertson’s Meredith Palmer, and Ashley’s Karina Peat.

All of these players and more will be featured in the HSOT All-State team in the coming weeks.
