Mhm. Pro Day is pretty much the um audition for the NFL. We come out, we um we weigh in, get our weights, get our height measurements and we also, we test for the NFL scouts that come to see us. So we do 40 yard dash broad jump, vertical jump 225 bench test. We also do field drills at the end. So everything gets scored on, you know how well you did up how poorly you might have done during pro day is like pretty much an audition to how well you perform under pressure under the lights. I’m Shaheen battle NFL draft prospect from NC State University. I, I think, well, the draft process has been, it’s been a little, a little stressful in a way because I don’t really know what’s gonna happen next. You know, I’m just waiting on my call, you know, it’s been, it’s been fun. Uh So I’m just gonna go over a couple of instructions before we start. So, yeah, stretch lab, we do PNF my manager set appointment with um stretch labs and I went out there a couple of days before pro day. You’ve been in the Raleigh area. Yeah. Yeah, I’ll be out here all the time, man. A commute though, you know, back and forth to. Yeah, my guy Melo stretched me out. Um, he’s actually from where I’m from, back in the same hometown. We actually played a U basketball together. So such a small world that I didn’t even know that he was gonna be working on me that day. That’s a big thing of being front of 25. You know, an opportunity to take advantage of trying to put a city on my back, man. Yeah, man. That one out of 252 being from Rocky Mount means means a lot, you know, um I wear Rocky Mount on my back. I say 252 everywhere I go because that’s who created me. That’s who made me who I am today. Appreciate you, bro, my dog Romelo. We’re on the same crib 252. You’re out, man. Thank you. This is where pro is gonna be right. Yep. Right in here. I feel a lot more people, a lot more odds, but it’s always better when there’s nobody here. I see that. You know, the dark hours what I like to call it. So when nobody’s here, when everybody’s here, it’d be easy went and got a little light workout in at the um indoor facility, worked on a little bit of drill work. Um A couple of shuttle drills, couple L drills about 41 start, finish you know, I was just working on the kinks of what I’ll be doing for pro day. This is where it all started, you know, back to 2019, not playing a game, not knowing what I’m working for is just in here working too. Now. I’m working for the pro day as a corner. I would describe myself as a physical corner with a swag Cunningham looking to throw fires long, once again looking for his receiver, it’s gonna be intercepted, gonna be picked up by MC State and Shaheen battle who was already having a really fine night. Yeah, I would say man, I’m a physical corner. Um I like to, I like to do the dirty work. I’m not scared of contact. I like to look good. Shaheem Battle brings it to the 32 of Louisville. That’s a good word for us today. Now is the time to wind down. Enjoy the moment, live in the moment come Tuesday. It’s time to get out there. Let’s do it. We went to the women’s basketball game. We started the March Madness tournament. That was cool. We’re pulling away now, I think we done got in our groove. I tell you how it been. I have went out there and watched the girls win. Had a great time out there. Close it off. I just wanna go visit the family and we had, we had a great time, had some great food was on the grill for us. We’ve been cooking about here for five years. Shaq came to r, we came to r, my dad is probably the most outgoing guy. I know. Absolutely. Most outgoing guy. Now, if I come home mad or something, I just for a shower. That’s right. Pull a shot. Watch him all day. That’s what I do. He’s always trying to make somebody laugh. You know, he’s always trying to be the life of the party he was giving that boy hell right there. He loves to be seen, loves to be heard. Yeah, he got pro day coming up, let me see how they go. I mean, like, like they always say whoever knew would be Shaheen, you know, I always thought it, I never knew it but here it is, he was always uh that dude when uh they needed a play, I needed some points, you know, they would uh go to Sha Pops always called me the MVP. We always knew I was special, you know. So I’m living up to it man. Day by day I start yelling Big Daddy, right? And all the players would look at me like, why, what are you calling him? Big Daddy boy? And I’m like he doing everything. He playing quarterback, he played running back, played wide receiver and of course he played DB, he was doing everything. So he’s not a normal kid on the field. He was doing big stuff. I’ve been practicing, I’ve been practicing, I guess a lot of practice for this moment. It’s Sally here. I know and it’s like countdown. Now, you counting down the days now, I’m, I’m excited about the NFL draft. And that saying I’m excited is because as when he was younger, he set goals and I look back at that piece of paper and he met his goals. He said my dreams are to be a professional football player. When I grow up, I would like to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers. My dad plans was to play for the Steelers, but he didn’t make it. But he has a good paying job. And he married a pretty girl, which is my mom after I have accomplished all of my goals and plans. My dream is to marry me a pretty girl like my dad. I want a nice car so I can drive to see my parents, brothers and sisters. That’s his baby picture. And now he’s just as handsome now. So my mom, she told me that she almost lost her life, having me as a kid. She lost a lot of blood and that they said that she might not make it through, you know, the whole process. I tell, I tell Shai all the time. I said I’m blessed every day to be here to watch you and see you. So I cherish every moment with my Children, all of them. But I, he was just that special child that, that I didn’t, I almost didn’t make it through it, but I made it. So I give God praise for that. I didn’t find this out until maybe I was 1314 years old. So she didn’t tell me until I was of age. But now looking back and just thinking about it, like, um I appreciate her for just being strong. They called it um where the placenta had grew to my womb and they went in and tried to pull it out and when they pulled it out, I just started hemorrhaging. But so I guess I look at, I died but I came back, you know, God gave me another chance to be here with him. So I cherish that and I’m very happy to be here and to see him living out his dream, you know, so it’s a blessing to me to get this far to watch him. Oh, wow, archives, the archives, the Ohio State. I, yeah, man, that’s real. This is my motivation too. Coming out of high school. I didn’t believe it was real, you know, getting stuff like this in the mail. I’ve always set goals for myself. I’ve always had this creative mindset. I’ve um it’s always been instilled in me. I mean, I would say my pops really helped me get on that course, you know, when he put that sticker, when he put that message in my mirror. So this quote here, it says if you’re not talking to college coaches, you’re not being recruited, my pops, put this in my mirror when I was in eighth grade and I used to look at it and just get motivation, you know, because at one point I wasn’t talking to colleges. He could have been the other kid, the 2% of the street, uh, played football for NC State and just still didn’t make it. But with him being that guy, he was, uh, in that pit to go put his name up, play for the NFL. And it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s a magnitude of, of, of gratefulness. That’s what he got from NC State when he first went, that’s from Coach Day, Coach Barlow and they were just saying that he was gonna go to the draft breaking Shahan battle for NC State becomes the second NFL player NC State player to go number one overall in the NFL draft. So we’re gonna see what happens with that draft Pro Day can affect your draft stock. A lot pro day is for guys that didn’t get into the combine and it’s for an opportunity for everybody to have a fair shot at, getting looked at by NFL scouts. It was a lot of pressure, it was a lot of pressure on my 40 yard dash. Um Really, that’s been the biggest concern that I’ve been hearing since I’ve been in college. I just kinda gave myself a moment to just sit there and, and just, you know, take the moment in. Look down the line and look at all the scouts that are there watching me. I’m like, well, this is the opportunity I asked for. I’m grateful for it. You know, it’s time for me, you know, to show them how, how fast I am. I said, you know, God speed is running. I’ve been hearing 46, which is not what I, what I wanted to run. But, um, I can live with it, you know, I live with it and in my opinion, I don’t think, I don’t think speed is everything. You know, I feel like guys display other things besides speed field drills, man. I was like, this is going to practice all over again. Um I do field drills all the time. I do that all all season. You know, that’s, that’s my way of just having fun with football. I love just perfecting my craft, talk to Detroit at the pro day and they said that they, they like they was impressed with how well I moved and the drill work, that’s something that they really pay close attention to, to how well guys move. Oh, my mom, my dad, my brother, my sister, my, my best friends, my goddaughter, my grandma even made it out, you know. So my cousin, my management team agent, you know, everybody came out and supported me for that day. I appreciated them, you know, sharing that moment with me. Yeah. Yeah, that was smooth, right. I got that definitely on the table. I know somebody had, I got that on paper, I got that on paper. I know that they wouldn’t wanna be anywhere else as well. So, you know, it was always special, you know, to have my family behind me supporting me just on draft weekend, man. I’m, I’m excited, I’m gonna be excited for the first round, for the second round, third round all the way through the end just because I know I’m a part of the draft. I wanna show, you know, the world that I belong in the NFL and that I’m capable of playing at a high level and that, you know, this game means the world to me and whatever it takes, I wanna be as great as I can at it. So I’m gonna enjoy the whole process, you know, when my name does get called, I’m gonna be excited and happy and you know, I’m gonna probably share, share some tears with my family just because that’s my dream, you know, getting drafted, going to the NFL now it’s finally here and I’ve been saying this since I was a kid, you know, but now we’re just, we’re living in it, you know, and not everybody gets to live in this moment. So, um just the sacrifices I made to get here. It’s been a blessing. All right, Detroit, let’s do it. Round four of the 2024 NFL draft is now officially open, man. I was excited just to wait, you know hear my name get called. I was hoping to go early as possible time to do it, time to do it. Alright man. I’m feeling good man. I’m just you know watching following along trying to see who can call next. Honestly wait till I hear my name, father God, we ask you right now to bless our nephew, my nephew on today. Well, whatever you have for him. God, I ask you to give it to him on today. Don’t take nothing away but give him what belongs to him. Amen. Amen. Amen. Oh me good day, brother. It it’s gonna come. We still, we still technically in the salt is my manager for young money and um we, you know, behind the scenes, checking out the whole draft sta and where God following where I’ll end up at and you know, you just keep me updated, put your little list together and you remind yourself that you put that list in, in your, in your locker room, in your locker, of every corner that got drafted for you when you get to the lead, which is happening tonight. It don’t even man, yo big daddy. I knew he would go but uh I hate he had to wait as long as he did. We, we wait on the, on the next round round seven like it might, it might spark off some. So with the final, but maybe not a relevant pick. The New York Jets select Jalen Key, a defensive back from Alabama. It was a long wait, you know, it felt like it was, it was going a little slow, but I mean, it was going faster than it was still, still Saturday, you know, it was still a day of the draft. So, you know, man, just wait on that time, man, it was, you know, just thinking about where I could end up. like, do I still got a certain time to decide by? Ok, we gonna get offers and they gonna say, and you know, you take it or you don’t, that’s how it’s gonna work, you know what I mean? They gonna move on to the next day, you know, but I can see people getting antsy, you know, some, some was, but I’m telling you the true fans, they stay, the family, stay, you know, even the ones that had something to do left and came back because, you know, they wanted to be here. I got you appreciate it f hey, love you too. That’s, that’s what you call real family, you know, hey, he wants to stay and that’s, that’s why, you know, I really lean on it can count on when it comes down to it, you know, I appreciate them more than anything. Uh Put on the All right, I picked up my phone, um sent out one message to my team and they just immediately called me, you know, gave me an update and said that New York Jets will be calling me in a minute here. So, you know, I just stay by the phone. Hello? Hey, hey, what’s up? What’s up, man? It’s Davis at the Jets. Hey, man, how you doing? I’m doing well. How are you? I’m doing good. Doing good. Waiting to hear from you. New York Jets is a team that’s been following me, you know, throughout my whole process declaring to the NFL and they’ve all, they’ve been hiring me for a while now. So, you know, for them to call me, it was just like, you know, it’s time now. I just spoke to your agent. You said, uh you said you’re, you’re definitely in for rookie mini game next week. Yes, sir. And you’ll be hitting the free Friday, Saturday. So you’ll have two days to kind of get after it on the field to make a good impression, try to earn a contract. Does that sound good to you? Yes, sir. It sounds good. All right, Shai. Congrats, man. You got an opportunity now, roll with it. Ok. That’s all I wanted. I got you. Thank you. I feel great. I feel like I want it if I can go out there and you know, earn my stripes. So I’m really just ready to get to work. Uh The decision has been made. I’ll be going to the New York Jets. I’m always a demon fan and I’m his dad. He wanted to do that for himself, but more or less for me and, and he’s hugging me and I’m hugging him and it’s like that we did it right there. I don’t see many families come together, you know, and I’m mom, I love my family. So I just, I’m just happy to see that he made it and it feels good to know that, you know, I got him but I know he’s, he made it. He can be an example. I’m glad I’m happy for you guys. I got here. You did it. I’m, I’m a humble man. I’m a humble guy and I’ve been through a lot of humbling experiences and this is just one more that I’ve had to go through. So it’s definitely put a chip on my shoulder, go in there, you know, be hungry. I owe that to the organization for real. Battle tested, right? Battle tested Battle Island. Let’s do it. So.
