Baseball Rankings: Top-ranked teams suffer first loss, Whiteville slides into Top-10
The final days of the regular season have yielded several upsets across the state.
No. 2 Morehead and No. 3 Metrolina Christian both suffered their first loss of the season this past week to drastically alter one of the final editions of the HighSchoolOT statewide baseball rankings.
Whiteville makes its way into the top 10, and Cape Fear, Charlotte Christian, South Granville, and North Stanly rode hot streaks into the top 25.
South Lenoir, Holly Springs, Gray’s Creek, Glenn, Gaston Christian, and Asheville make up the half dozen teams to creep back into this week’s area code rankings.
Rankings reminders:
- Rankings are updated weekly and released on Monday
- All high schools in the state of North Carolina, excluding athletic training academies, are eligible for the statewide top 25
- There is a separate top 15 for the state’s six area codes that is also updated weekly
- Rankings are paused during the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs
- Final rankings are released the week after the state championships
