Apex Friendship beats Chapel Hill to move to 3-0 on the season
No. 17 Apex Friendship picked up a win over No. 18 Chapel Hill on Monday evening in a rematch from last fall’s fourth round game in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A state playoffs.
The Patriots scored the lone goal of the game in the second half to walk away with a 1-0 win.
After the two teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half, Hudson Kozack scored on a penalty kick to claim the win for Apex Friendship.
The game-winning goal is the first goal of the season for Kozack, a senior for the Patriots.
Apex Friendship defeated Chapel Hill 2-1 in the fourth round of the state playoffs last fall. The Patriots went on to finish as the 4A state runner-up.
The Patriots are now 3-0 on the season and have only given up one goal this season. Chapel Hill falls to 0-2 on the season.
Apex Friendship returns to action on Wednesday night with a home game against Athens Drive at 6:30 p.m.
Chapel Hill’s next game is a home game against Leesville Road on Thursday night. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m.
