The NHL has officially announced that Sebastian Aho, a player for the Carolina Hurricanes, has been selected to participate in the 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend. The event will take place in Toronto from February 1st to 3rd.

Aho, who is 26 years old, has scored a total of 43 points (15 goals, 28 assists) in 35 games so far this season. He leads the team in goals, assists, points, power-play assists (14), power-play points (18), multi-assist games (7), and multi-point games (12). His 43 points are the second-highest by any player on the team since it relocated, in the first 35 games of a season. He has also earned a point in five consecutive games since December 23rd (3 goals, 10 assists), which is tied for the longest point streak by any Hurricanes player in the 2023-24 season. Aho’s 18 power-play points (4 goals, 14 assists) are currently his third-highest in any season of his career. He only needs 10 more points on the man-advantage to match his career-high of 79 points in the 2021-22 season. As a 6’0”, 180-pound forward, Aho leads the NHL in assists (13), points (16), power-play assists (9), and power-play points (11) since December 18th. On Monday, he was named the NHL’s First Star of the Week after recording at least three points in three consecutive games from December 27th to 30th (2 goals, 9 assists). Aho was selected by the Carolina team in the second round, as the 35th overall pick, in the 2015 NHL Draft. He achieved his 500th career point against the Predators on December 27th, making him the fifth player from his draft class to reach this milestone.

Aho has been selected to represent the Hurricanes at the All-Star Game in both 2019 and 2022. He will be the third player to do so since the team relocated, joining Eric Staal (2007, 2008, 2009, 2011) and Justin Faulk (2015, 2016, 2017). Only two other players from his draft class have been chosen for at least three previous All-Star Games: Connor McDavid (Edmonton: 6) and Jack Eichel (Buffalo/Vegas: 3). Originally from Rauma, Finland, Aho has recorded a total of 511 points (233 goals, 278 assists) in 555 games with the Hurricanes. He ranks fourth in goals and points, fifth in assists, sixth in power-play points (153), and leads all players in franchise history in shorthanded goals (17), shorthanded points (24), and overtime goals (10).
