The battle for the No. 1 seed, double byes and the final spots in the ACC women’s basketball tournament came down to the last day of the regular season.

The 15-team tournament begins Wednesday at the First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro. The top four seeds will start play in Friday’s quarterfinals. The championship game is Sunday afternoon.

NC State clinched the No. 1 seed with its victory against SMU. Notre Dame, which won the event in 2024, is the No. 2 seed.

Duke claimed the No. 3 seed with a victory over No. 4 seed Florida State. North Carolina missed out on a double bye with its home loss to Virginia, a game in which the Tar Heels led by as many as 18.

Miami (14-15, 4-14 in the ACC), Wake Forest (9-20, 2-16) and SMU (10-20, 2-16) and did not qualify for the 15-team event.
