A.C. Reynolds 3-star junior QB Ely Hamrick commits to Virginia
A.C. Reynolds quarterback Ely Hamrick wanted to get his recruitment process wrapped up early. Hamrick announced on Monday morning that he has committed to the University of Virginia.
The junior is already the second class of 2026 quarterback from North Carolina to choose a school. Providence Day’s Zaid Lott committed to the University of North Carolina back in the summer.
Hamrick, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound prospect, started his high school career at IMG Academy in Florida. In the 2024 offseason, his family moved to Asheville and he transferred to Reynolds.
He is considered a 3-star prospect by Rivals, which ranks him as the No. 24 junior prospect in North Carolina.
Hamrick also held offers from Kentucky, Appalachian State, East Carolina, Toledo, and Charlotte.
So far for Reynolds, Hamrick has completed 50 of his 97 passing attempts for 682 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception. He has rushed 32 times for 142 yards and two touchdowns.
A.C. Reynolds, a 3A school, is off to a 1-3 overall start in 2024 after losing to 4As West Forsyth, East Forsyth, and Watauga.
