Mooresville’s second round curse is over.

For the first time since 2011, the Blue Devils will play in the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association. In the history of Mooresville’s football program, each time the Blue Devils have made it to the third round, they’ve advanced to the fourth. It has happened three times.

The Blue Devils are led by first-year coach Zach Mayo, who was previously the offensive coordinator.

Next week, Mooresville, the 6-seed, will travel to 3-seed East Forsyth to take on 4-star quarterback Bryce Baker, a UNC commit.

Northwest Guilford finished its season with a 9-3 overall record. the Vikings have made the playoffs in each of the first two seasons under Chris Rusiewicz.
