(5) Reagan softball scores late to take down (12) Porter Ridge
Three big swings is all that it took for Reagan to become third round bound.
Caycee Wilson broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning to back her two-hit shutout in a 4-0 victory over Porter Ridge.
Wilson went the distance and struck out nine. Reagan will face Northwest Guilford on Tuesday in the NCHSAA 4A softball “Sweet Sixteen”.
Porter Ridge traded scoreless frames with the Raiders for the first four innings. Natalya Salo, a Wofford commit, scattered six hits and struck out two in the final game of her high school career.
Lindy Davidson kicked off a three-run fifth by drawing a one-out walk for Reagan. She advanced to second on an Avery Corbin single, and moved over to third on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Bailey Huff.
Caycee Wilson helped her own cause with a line drive single to center that plated a pair. Rylee Wilson kept the line moving with a single of her own to bring home her sister from second.
Ava Parsons pulled a single through the left side with nobody out in the sixth allowing Lilah Clayman to cross for a 4-0 advantage.
The Raiders are 22-4 overall and will host the 5-seeded Vikings of Northwest Guilford who escaped West Forsyth with a 2-1 victory.
