It marks the third time the course in Pinehurst, North Carolina, has hosted the tournament.

Here’s a guide to everything fans need to know about the 2024 U.S. Open.

What is the significance of the 2024 U.S. Open?

The U.S. Open is one of golf’s four majors along with the Masters, the PGA Championship and the Open.

It is the third of the four men’s major golf championships, and is on the official schedule of both the PGA Tour and the European Tour.

Last year, the U.S. Open distributed $20 million total to the tournament’s top golfers. The winner Wyndam Clark won about $3.6 million.

How to buy tickets to the 2024 U.S. Open

The U.S. Open offers several ticket packages on its website, some of which are already sold out.

Ticket prices range from about $65 to $3,600.

  • Gallery: Gallery tickets offer grounds access for fans to see all the action and follow the world’s best players as they take on Pinehurst No. 2. Fans have the ability to walk the course and sit in various public grandstands. Food and beverages are available at concession stands.
  • Reserved grandstand: Reserve access to the grandstand on the green at hole No. 11 at Pinehurst No. 2. This ticket provides admissions to the grounds and access to a grandstand with premium views of the 11th green. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. This ticket also includes all access that a gallery ticket receives.
  • The Garden: The Garden is an open-air sports bar-style facility with a variety of seating options, live television coverage and restrooms. Food and beverages are available for purchase. This ticket includes all access that a gallery ticket receives.
  • Trophy Club: This ticket is sold out. Fans can experience the U.S. Open from a climate-controlled facility located adjacent to the 14th fairway. The Trophy Club offers a variety of seating options, upgraded food and beverage options for purchase, live television coverage and restrooms. This ticket includes all access that a gallery ticket receives.
  • Carolina Club: The Carolina Club is an all-inclusive space where golf fans can enjoy the action from the comfort of a climate-controlled lounge near the 16th tee box. It includes an all-inclusive food and beverage, live television coverage, and access to private restrooms. It also includes all access that a gallery ticket receives and access to The Garden.
  • 1895 Club: The most premium U.S. Open experience offers a “total white-glove VIP treatment from the moment fans arrive on-site.” It starts with complimentary golf cart shuttle service to and from the 1895 Club from a VIP entrance and includes all-day dining, open bar and both a climate-controlled area at the 18th green along with an outdoor patio. This ticket comes with one valet parking pass for each two tickets purchased for any round, and includes access to the Trophy Club and The Garden.

Ticket Master offers single-day gallery tickets for June 15 and June 16 starting at about $225 per day.

Where to park for the 2024 U.S. Open?

The Pinehurst Resort and Country Club is about 70 miles southwest of Raleigh in the Village of Pinehurst.

From June 13-16, there is no general fan parking available on the grounds of Pinehurst Resort and Country Club or in the Village of Pinehurst. Local street parking will be restricted in accordance with Village of Pinehurst ordinances and regulations.

All other parking is by permit only.

Complimentary parking and shuttle transportation will be provided from two large fan parking lots:

The red lot at Beulah Hill Church Road (NC-73) just north of Dormie Club Road in West End, North Carolina.

The blue lot at Sand Pit Road just north of West Craven Avenue and just south of Roseland Road in Aberdeen, North Carolina.

Signage will direct fan vehicles to their respective parking lot based on their point of origin.

Red lot parking directions

Fans traveling from points west utilizing Interstate 74 or U.S. Highway 24/27 East and fans traveling from points north (Raleigh) utilizing U.S. Highway 1 South or U.S. 15/501 South are advised to proceed to the red lot.

Complimentary shuttle transportation to and from Pinehurst Resort and Country Club is expected to take less than 15 minutes one-way.

From areas north using I-74 South

  1. Take I-74 southbound towards Exit 44.
  2. Take Exit 44 for North Carolina Highway 211 (Candor/Pinehurst).
  3. Turn left onto North Carolina Highway 211 East towards Seven Lakes/Pinehurst for 11.2 miles.
  4. Turn left onto North Carolina Highway 73 East for 2.8 miles and follow signage to the red lot.

From areas south using U.S.-220/I-74 North

  1. Take U.S. Highway 220 North turning into I-74 North.
  2. Take Exit 33 for North Carolina Highway 73 (Windblow).
  3. Turn right onto North Carolina Highway 73 East for 10.8 miles.
  4. Turn left onto North Carolina Highway 211 West/North Carolina Highway 73 East for 0.2 miles.
  5. Turn right onto North Carolina Highway 73 East for 2.8 miles and follow signage to the red lot.

From areas north using US-1 South

  1. Take U. S. Highway 1 southbound towards Sanford.
  2. In Sanford, take slight right to merge onto US-15/501 South towards Pinehurst for 17.1 miles.
  3. Turn right onto North Carolina Highway 73 West for 3.6 miles.
  4. Turn right onto Beulah Hill Church Road for 0.6 miles and following signage to the red lot.

Blue lot parking directions

Fans traveling from points west utilizing the U.S. 74 Bypass and from points east utilizing I-95, and fans traveling from points south utilizing U.S. 1 North or U.S. 501 North are advised to proceed to the blue lot. Complimentary shuttle transportation to and from Pinehurst Resort and Country Club is expected to take less than 15 minutes one-way.

From US-74 Bypass Eastbound

  1. Continue on the US-74 East Bypass proceeding towards Rockingham.
  2. Take Exit 311 for US-1 North (Rockingham/Southern Pines).
  3. Turn left onto US-1 North for 1.3 miles.
  4. As you enter downtown Rockingham and at the Franklin Street intersection, turn right to continue on U.S. Highway 1 North for 22.9 miles.
  5. Turn left onto W Baltimore Avenue for 0.7 miles.
  6. Turn right onto North Ridgecrest Road continuing straight onto Sand Pit Road for 0.8 miles, and follow signage to the blue lot.

From I-95 northbound & southbound

  1. Continue on I-95 towards Exit 31.
  2. Take Exit 31 for North Carolina Highway 20 West towards Pinehurst.
  3. Turn onto North Carolina Highway 20 West for 17.4 miles.
  4. Turn left onto East Palmer Street for 3.1 miles.
  5. Turn left onto North Carolina Highway 211 North for 15.4 miles.
  6. Turn right onto U.S. Highway 15/501 North for 0.3 miles.
  7. Turn left onto U.S. Highway 1 South for 0.1 miles and stay in the right lane.
  8. Turn right onto Roseland Road and follow signage to the blue lot.

From areas south using US-1 Northbound

  1. Continue on U.S. Highway 1 North towards Rockingham.
  2. As you enter downtown Rockingham and at the Franklin Street intersection, turn right to continue on U.S. Highway 1 North for 22.9 miles.

Ride share, Uber and Lyft drop-off to the 2024 US Open

Ride share services, passenger, taxi or limousine drop-offs will only be allowed at the designated area located off Midland Road (NC-2) near the traffic circle, which is a short walk to Gate 6.

There is no parking or staging for vehicles, so please coordinate pick-up times accordingly.

Please follow directional signs and parking attendants to the appropriate pick-up and drop-off location. Due to traffic restrictions, access is limited to vehicles no larger than a 15-passenger van or limousine.

Ride share vehicles are not permitted to pick-up or drop-off at any other location around the grounds.

All other U.S. Open parking is by permit and parking pass only.

What items are prohibited at the 2024 U.S. Open?

  • No weapons (regardless of permit, including but not limited to firearms or knives)
  • No explosives and/or fireworks of any kind
  • No tablets and/or computers (mobile devices smaller than 7″ are permitted, subject to mobile device policy)
  • No drones
  • No selfie sticks or handheld camera stabilizers
  • No cameras (point and shoot, film, or DSLR) or video cameras (other than Monday through Wednesday for personal use only)
  • No noise-producing devices (including radios, TVs, or portable speakers)
  • No backpacks, briefcases, purses and/or bags larger than 6 inches in width by 6 inches in height by 6 inches in depth in their natural state

Note: Transparent/clear plastic hand and shoulder bags no larger than 12″ W x 12″ H x 6″ D are permitted.

  • No signs, posters, banners and/or other sports paraphernalia or memorabilia
  • No food and/or beverages except for medical or infant needs
  • No glass and/or coolers except for medical or infant needs
  • No pets or emotional support animals (only trained service dogs as defined by the ADA)
  • No lounge chairs and/or oversized chairs
  • No ladders and/or step stools or other similar items
  • No bicycles, Segways, scooters, or other personal transportation devices allowed inside championship admission gates (other than used for individuals with mobility disabilities)
  • No other items or actions deemed unlawful, dangerous or disruptive by the USGA and/or Championship security personnel, in their sole discretion

The USGA reserves the right to amend the list of prohibited Items at any time to provide a safe and secure championship.

Water bottles (32-ounce size or less, no glass) are permitted provided they are empty upon arrival.

Aerosol cans, spray bottles, and/or personal-care items (3.4 ounces or less) are permitted.

Tiger Woods has accepted a special exemption into the 124th U.S. Open Championship. It would be Woods’ 23rd start at a U.S. Open.

While other majors like the PGA Championship and Masters offer lifetime exemptions to past champions, the U.S. Open does not.

Woods was No. 789 in the Official World Golf Ranking at the time he accepted his special exemption; his five-year exemption after his 2019 Masters win had run out.

The U.S. Open lists the participating golfers on its website.
