13 players from the NC volleyball team have been selected for the AVCA All-American list.
Thirteen individuals from various parts of the state were recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as All-Americans for the previous year.
Three athletes were selected for the first team, two were chosen for the second team, two more were placed on the third team, and the remaining six received honorable mentions.
According to the AVCA website, the conditions for nomination were that the student-athlete must be in their final year of high school, have participated in at least half of their team’s sets, and be nominated by their AVCA member high school head coach through both the AVCA website and a MaxPreps statistics submission.
The following players from North Carolina have been included in the list:
The first team includes Laynie Smith from Chapel Hill, Sally Perez from Middle Creek, and Asia Thigpen from Green Level.
The second team is composed of Camryn Shelton from Ardrey Kell and Avery Scoggins from Middle Creek.
The third team consists of Victoria Kasanganay from Ardrey Kell and Josie Zynczak from Middle Creek.
Honorable Mention: Chapel Hill’s Lexi Smollen, Cox Mill’s Arielle Walker, McMichael’s Kacey Gore, Kings Mountain’s Myracle Davis and Mary Grace Hogue, Palisades’ Charlie Meadoweal.
