Player in focus (Nathan Ake):
Ake is a skilled soccer player who is a member of both the Dutch National Team and AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League. He was born on February 18, 1995 and began his youth career with ADO Den Haag in 2003. In 2007, he transferred to Feyenoord and then joined Chelsea’s youth academy in 2011.
At 17 years old, Ake made his professional debut for the Blues in a 0-1 win against Norwich on December 26, 2012. He primarily played for Chelsea’s reserve team and had a few starts and substitute appearances before being loaned to Reading for one month in 2015. After returning, he joined Watford on a season-long loan and was recognized as their young player of the season. He then went on another successful loan stint at Bournemouth before being called back to Chelsea in January 2017.
At the beginning of the 2017-2018 season, the 24-year-old returned to his current team, Bournemouth, on a permanent basis with a five-year contract valued at 20 million pounds. In international competitions, Ake has played for the Netherlands at all levels of youth and has even served as captain for the under-17 and under-19 teams. He made his debut for the senior team on May 31, 2017, in the Netherlands’ 2-1 victory against Morocco in a friendly match.
Highlighted Team (Huddersfield):
In 1926, Huddersfield Town made history as the first English team to win three consecutive national trophies. From 1908 until 1994, they played at Leeds Road, but in 1994, they relocated to John Smith’s Stadium as their new home. The club currently competes in the second tier of English football, known as the Championship, and their home kit features blue and white stripes.
Huddersfield Town was established in 1910 and joined the Football League just three years after. In 1926, the Terriers earned their most recent domestic championship, although they also had a strong showing as runners-up in the 1920 FA Cup. Leeds United is considered the club’s main rival, and it should be mentioned that Huddersfield Town has a better head-to-head record against them.
Bradford City are considered Huddersfield’s local rivals as well, but there are small rivalries with Barnsley, Halifax Town, Manchester City and Oldham Athletic. The club’s chairman is Dean Hoyle.
