Established in 1940 as Salford Central, this League Two team hosts their matches at Moor Lane. The stadium, originally built in 1978 and recently updated in 2019, has a capacity of 5,108 seats. The team sports red jerseys and white shorts for home games, and their away kit features a dominant color scheme of white and black.

In the 2018/19 season, Salford City earned a promotion to League 2 after beating Flyde 3-0 in the final of the National League play-offs. The game took place at Wembley Stadium and goals were scored by Touray, Pergianni, and Dieseruvwe for the Lions.
