Our prediction for this EFL Cup match:

Preston

Preston

Fulham

Fulham

A spot in the EFL Cup last 16 will be at stake when Preston and Fulham go head to head in an eagerly-awaited game at Deepdale. The Lilywhites set up a meeting with the Premier League side by crushing Harrogate 5-0 on the road, but they will have a mountain to climb in Tuesday’s showdown. Forward Josh Bowler is widely expected to return to the starting line-up, while there are no fresh injury concerns in the home team.

The Cottagers, on the other hand, head into the match following a 1-1 draw with West Ham United. As Fulham boss Marco Silva is expected to shuffle his pack for the EFL Cup clash, we are tempted to place our bets on draw. All Harry Wilson, Tom Cairney, Reiss Nelson, and Rodrigo Muniz are pushing for a start, while Carlos Vinicius continues to miss out with a calf injury.

Highlighted Player (Tom Cairney):

Tom Cairney

Tom Cairney is a professional footballer who plays for Fulham. His main position is central midfielder, but he plays as an attacking midfielder and a right midfielder as well. The left-footed player was born in Nottingham, England on 20 January, 1991 and he started his youth career at Leeds United.

In 2007 he moved to Hull City and he was named Hull’s Young Player of the Year for the 2008/2009 campaign. After making 70 league appearances for the Tigers he joined Blackburn Rovers on 1 August, 2013 on loan and on 2 January, 2014 he signed a permanent deal with the Riversiders. At the end of the 2014/2015 Championship campaign he joined Fulham.

Tom Cairney’s father is Scottish and, as a result, the Fulham footballer decided to represent Scotland on the international stage. Cairney has 2 caps for Scotland U-21 and he made 6 appearances for Scotland U-21 team. It has to be noted that he suffered a serious injury in August 2012. The injury forced him to be out of contention for over three months.

Highlighted Team (Preston):

Preston

Preston North End or Preston were founded in 1880. The Lilywhites or the Invincibles play their home games at Deepdale, the stadium that was built in 1875 and opened three years later.

In 1889 Preston won their first FA Cup trophy and they did well to beat Huddersfield Town in the final of the 1938 FA Cup final. However, the club’s biggest success came in 1889 and 1890 when they won back-to-back domestic trophies (First Division).

Preston have yet to win the League Cup title, but they were runners-up in 1888, 1922, 1937, 1954, 1964. Preston’s main rivals are Blackpool and the two teams square off against each other in the West Lancashire derby. In their first ever meeting in the West Lancashire derby (1901) Preston recorded a 4-1 win over Blackpool.

Burnley and Blackburn Rovers are considered Preston’s big rivals as well. The colour of Preston’s shirts is white and they wear dark blue shorts.
