The Tykes, also known as Barnsley, are a professional football club from England. They were established in 1887 and have spent the most seasons in the Championship out of any other club. In 1890, they were part of the Sheffield and District League, but later joined the Midland League in 1895. Their home games take place at Oakwell, a stadium that was constructed in 1887.

The stadium has a capacity of 23,009 and was first opened in 1888, only a year after the club was established. In 1910, the Tykes reached the FA Cup final, but were defeated by Newcastle United.

Despite this, Barnsley achieved their greatest accomplishment by winning the FA Cup in 1912. In a two-part match against West Bromwich Albion (ending in 0-0 and 1-0), Barnsley secured the highly coveted trophy, a feat they have only achieved once in their entire history.
