Johnny Russell, who was born on April 8, 1990 in Glasgow, Scotland’s capital, began his youth career at Dundee United before moving on to Derby County for the majority of his professional career. In 2018, he joined Sporting Kansas City.

The attacker, standing at 178 cm, had a successful stint with the Scottish team from 2007 to 2013 before transferring to Derby County. Although the Rams made it to the Championship multiple times, they were unable to advance to the Premier League. This led Johnny Russell to join MLS, where he signed a three-year contract with Sporting Kansas City on January 31, 2018.

The Scottish player debuted for the Wizards in the first game of the 2019 season against New York City. He also made his first appearance for Scotland in November 2014, where they lost 3-1 to England. His primary position is left wing, but he is versatile enough to play as a center-forward or right winger.
