Reworded: Reading FC is a team in the Championship league of professional football. The club was established in 1871 and has been based at Madejski Stadium since 1998. Prior to that, the Royals played their home matches at Elm Park from 1896 to 1998. Reading has reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup twice (1927 and 2015), but has not yet won the renowned trophy.

The likes of Robin Friday, Trevor Senior, Steve Death, Shaka Hislop, Phil Parkinson, Alf Messer, Jimmy Quinn, Michael Gilkes, Ronnie Blackman, Pavel Pogrebnyak and Martin Hicks are some of their more notable footballers. Aldershot Town were considered Reading’s fiercest rivals, but the Shots went out of business in 1992.

Since Aldershot returned to the league in 2008, it is unsure if the rivalry will be reignited in the near future. Swindon Town and Oxford United are also recognized as Reading’s main rivals.
