Chicago Fire, a professional soccer team, is located in the suburb of Bridgeview, Illinois and competes in Major League Soccer. The club was established on October 8, 1997 and secured the MLS Cup one year later by defeating D.C. United (2-0) in the championship match. Their home games are played at Toyota Park, which opened on June 11, 2006. Over the years, Chicago Fire has won four U.S. Open Cups (1998, 2000, 2003, and 2006) and were runners-up in the 2009 North American Superliga final against UANL Tigres.

The likes of Chris Armas, DeMarcus Beasley, Brian McBride, Eric Wynalda and Frank Klopas are some of the notable footballers who played for Chicago Fire in the past. It has to be noted that a number of veterans were part of the club as well: Cuauhtemoc Blanco, Pavel Pardo, Piotr Nowak, Hristo Stoichkov and Lubos Kubik.

The official colors of the club are red and white, and they are known as the Men in Red. Veljko Paunovic, a renowned coach who led Serbia to victory in the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, is one of the most well-known coaches for the club.
