Rayo Vallecano, founded in 1924, is a Spanish football team based in the Valleas neighborhood of Madrid. After spending a significant amount of time in lower divisions, the club has been playing in the Primera Division since 2011. Their home games are currently held at the Teresa Rivero Stadium, also known as the Nuevo Vallecas stadium, with a capacity of 15,500 seats. This stadium is one of the smallest in the Primera Division. The team’s colors are white and red, and they are also referred to as Los Vallecanos. Rayo Vallecano is known for its radical left-winged political views, particularly among its passionate fan base known as the “ultras.”

Throughout its history, Rayo Vallecano has not won any major awards. Its greatest accomplishment was in 2000 when the team earned a spot in the UEFA Cup by winning the Fair Play spot. That season, Rayo Vallecano was one of the most unexpected teams in Europe and made it to the quarter finals before being eliminated by Deportivo Alaves. The club has had numerous notable players throughout its existence, including Julen Lopetegui, Jordi Figueras, Victor Onokpo, and Ismael Urzaiz.
