Player in focus (Toni Kroos):

Toni Kroos

Toni Kroos began his career as a midfielder for Real Madrid and previously played for Bayern Munich II at the senior level. He had 13 games with the reserve team before being loaned to Bayer Leverkusen on 31 January, 2009. Kroos made his debut for Bayer on 28 February, 2009 as a substitute in a 1-0 defeat against Hannover.

After scoring ten goals in 43 games for BayArena, the German midfielder returned to Bayern Munich in 2010. At Bayern, he was a key player in winning three Bundesliga titles (2007/2008, 2012/2013, and 2013/2014). In 2013, he was also part of the team that won the Champions League.

However, in 2014 he made the decision to depart from his club and joined Real Madrid, the Spanish powerhouse, on a six-year contract. With his new team, Kroos achieved victory in the 2015/2016 Champions League and displayed an impressive performance in the final against Atletico Madrid. Additionally, he also became a World Cup champion with Germany in 2014.

Team in the spotlight (Celta Vigo):

Celta Vigo

Celta de Vigo, a football club based in Vigo, Galicia, was established in 1923 through a merger of Real Club Fortuna de Vigo and Real Vigo Sporting. They were a dominant team in the Primera Division from 1997 to 2003. Their most notable achievement was reaching the knock out stage of the Champions League in the 2003/2004 season, but unfortunately, they were relegated to the Segunda Division in that same season.

The Celta de Vigo football team plays their home matches at the Estadio Balaidos stadium, which has a capacity of 31,800 seats. The team’s colors are baby blue and white. They are also referred to as “Celtinas” and their main rival is Deportivo la Coruna, based in the same region as Celta de Vigo.

Celta de Vigo’s top accomplishment was winning the Intertoto Cup in 2000 and making it to the final of the Copa del Rey in 1948, 1994, and 2001. Some notable players who have worn the Celta de Vigo jersey include Jordi Cruyff, Diego Costa, Sasa Illic, Makelele, Nene, and Sylvinho.
