Morocco, a team with high hopes for the title, will aim to begin their Africa Cup of Nations journey in an impressive manner as they face Tanzania at Stade Laurent Pokou on Wednesday afternoon. Managed by Walid Regragui, the team recently won against Sierra Leone in their last preparation match and are expected to come out on top against Tanzania in their first game of Group F. With key players such as Achraf Hakimi, Yassine Bounou, Romain Saiss, Sofyan Amrabat, and Hakim Ziyech on the roster, a victory for the home team is highly likely.

The Taifa Stars will depend on Feisal Salum to lead them in their first game, as the 26-year-old has scored seven goals in eight games in the Tanzanian top division this season. However, in San Pedro, it’s a classic David vs Goliath scenario and it would be quite unexpected for anything other than a predictable home win. Amine Harit, a football player of French and Moroccan descent, currently represents Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga. He was born on June 18, 1997 in Pontoise, France and started playing football in the outskirts of Paris, developing his skills with Argentuil C.O.

Following a four-year stint at Esperance Paris 19eme, the offensive midfielder made the switch to renowned French team Paris Saint-Germain. However, he promptly returned to Esperance Paris 19eme and in 2011, he signed with fellow French club Red Star. A year later, he transferred to Nantes, where he concluded his youth career.

Amine Harit went on to play for Nantes’ senior team and scored one goal in 30 league games before joining Bundesliga club Schalke 04. He has played twice for France’s U21 team, but currently represents Morocco on the senior level. As an attacking midfielder and occasional winger, he made his debut for Morocco on October 7, 2017 in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Gabon.

The Taifa Stars will be facing Senegal at the 30 June Air Defence Stadium for their first appearance at the African Nations Cup. They will also be competing against Algeria and Kenya in the group stages. Tanzania will be wearing white shirts for their home games and white and black for their away games.

In 1945, the Taifa Stars competed in their inaugural international match against Tanganyka, achieving a dominant 7-0 victory.
