Feyenoord vs Ajax Prediction & Betting Tips | 07/04/2024 | Football

Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:

Feyenoord

Feyenoord

Ajax

Ajax

Sparkles will be flying when Feyenoord and Ajax go head to head at De Kuip in de Klassieker on Saturday afternoon. The Rotterdammers played out a slim goalless draw with Volendam on Thursday evening, with the outcome ruining their title hopes. Anyhow, the hope dies last and we are positive that the reigning champions will adopt an attack-oriented approach in the Eredivisie derby. Defender Bart Nieuwkoop is pushing for a start after coming as a substitute in the goalless draw with Volendam, while all Justin Bijlow, Gernot Trauner, Luka Ivanusec, and Quilindschy Hartman should miss out with injuries.

The Amsterdammers, on the other hand, dropped two points in a 1-1 draw with Go Ahead Eagles and given their difficulties on the road, especially in matches against the title-chasing sides, home win should definitely be considered. All Jordan Henderson, Brian Brobbey, and Steven Berghuis remain on the sidelines, but there are no fresh injury worries in the away team.

Highlighted Player (Steven Bergwijn):

Steven Bergwijn

Steven Bergwin is a product of ASC Waterwijk football school, but in 2009 he was spotted by Ajax scouts. In 2011 he moved to PSG and he continued playing for the club’s reserve team at senior level. He made his debut with the senior team on May 20, 2015 in a 2-0 win over Heracles.

Over the years the Dutch footballer born in Amsterdam on October 8, 1997, has established himself as a first-team regular at PSV, earning a call-up for the national team as well. Steven Bergwijn made his Netherlands debut on October 12, 2018 in a 3-0 win over Germany. His main position is left winger, but he is used as both right winger and centre-forward as well.

His preferred foot is right and it has to be noted that his parents are of Suriname descent, he has a dual citizenship. Bergwijn scored 14 goals in 33 appearances for PSV in the 2018/2019 Eredivisie season.

Highlighted Team (Feyenoord):

Feyenoord

Back in 1908 football club Wilhemina was founded in the pub De Vereeniging and they played their home games in blue-sleeved red shirts and white shorts. The club’s name was changed to Hillesluise in 1909 and soon they became RVV Celeritas.

Finally, in 1912 the club got a name SC Feijenoord. Feyenoord won their first Eredivisie trophy in 1924 and 75 years later they clinched their 14th domestic trophy, finishing the season 15 points clear of second-placed Willem II. De Trots van Zuid play their home games at De Kuip and the capacity of the venue is 51 117.

The club’s fiercest rivals are Ajax and the two teams face each other in der Klassieker. The likes of Craig Bellamy, Gerrard Fox, Wouter Bos and Raemon Sluiter are notable supporters of the club. It is well known that football legends Johan Cruyff, Ruud Gullit and Peter Houtman all played for Feyenoord in the past. De Trots van Zuid play their home games in red-white shirts and black shorts.
